There are certain rules and regulations for home tuition as well as for any tuition classes or coaching classes and I hope that you might be knowing those rules. But, in this article, I am going to talk about tuition rules for students only.

Tuition rules are categorized into two types.

General tuition rules & specific tuition rules.

Let us start with specific rules first.

Admission-related tuition rules for students

Admission is the first process when students come across your tuition class rules; therefore, such rules have to be very clear, practical, and understandable.

Below are some of the sample rules for students related to the admission process.

Admission will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, and once the number of students reaches the tuition class limit or as decided by the tuition class, new admission will not be granted in any case.

Students have to furnish their complete details like full address, parent’s or guardian’s contact numbers, emergency contact numbers, school name, ID proof, etc., at the time of admission, and any future changes should be informed immediately to the tuition class.

If any student wants to discontinue tuition class, they need to inform the tuition class 10 days prior and pay the remaining dues.

The tuition class reserves the right to deny admission without giving any reason.

The tuition class reserves all the rights to the cancellation of admission to any student involved in serious indiscipline and violating the code of conduct or terms and conditions.

Fees payment-related tuition rules for students

Payment of fees and its terms and conditions is the most important rule for any tuition class because if there are no rules, you as a tuition teacher or tuition class owner will suffer a lot for the issues like non-payment of fees, late payment, etc.

Sending fees reminder message is highly irritating and time-wasting therefore you should be very cautious in setting fee payment terms and conditions.

Many tutors who start tuition at home and ignore payment rules always have to ask for fees from parents with many follow-ups. It is because parents don’t find any system or rule for fee payments.

I highly recommend you pay utmost attention while setting rules related to fee payment and making them very clear to save your tutoring business. You can give relaxation in other rules but not for payment-related rules.

All the students have to pay fees each month in advance or as directed by the tuition class.

Students who do not pay fees on time even after the first follow-up may be restricted from tuition classes until the pending fees are paid with a late fees penalty as decided by the tuition class.

Tuition class fees will be revised every year without any prior notice.

Students have to pay tuition fees by Cash, UPI, or NEFT. A post-dated cheque will not be accepted.

Tuition fees are not refundable or transferable in any case.

There will be no refund of fees if the student remains absent until and unless the reason is genuine or medical-related. In such cases, the final decision for a refund will be from tuition class only.

Due to unavoidable circumstances, if the tuition class remains closed, no refund will be given to any students. However, tuition class management will try to cover or make up the syllabus by taking extra classes.

Discipline-related tuition rules for students

Without discipline, no tutoring business can grow as a professional coaching center. Students of your tuition class must adhere to the disciplinary rules; else, you will lose your reputation, and your business will suffer a lot.

Below are some of the mandatory rules for tuition classes that you should set as terms and conditions for tuition classes.

As decided by the tuition class, discipline and code of conduct will be final, and all students must adhere to them with a letter and spirit.

Good behavior is highly expected from all students and appreciated as well.

Students must not remain absent without prior notice for more than two days. Students have to produce a letter from their parents if they remain absent for more than two days.

Students are expected to be punctual at all times according to the timetable given by the tuition classes.

Frequent latecomers may be restricted from entering tuition classes if the reason is not satisfactory, and parents will be informed accordingly.

There is no special requirement for uniforms from tuition. However, students are advised to wear an appropriate, neat, and clean dress in tuition class.

If the student is ill, they are advised not to come to tuition class until they get a full recovery. Entry for such students is not allowed in tuition classes.

Students are not allowed to keep their mobile phones with them during tuition class, or they must switch them OFF during class. In case of any emergency, parents can call on the tuition class number.

Students have to behave respectfully and appropriately with all the teachers, staff, or other students at all times. In case of any violation or misconduct such as abuse, mental or physical harassment of teachers, staff members, or other students, bullying or using abusive language will not be tolerated, and the tuition management will take strict action.

The student will be immediately terminated from tuition class if they are found practicing a direct or indirect, intentional or unintentional activity that is related to sexual nature, such as continuous staring at someone, stalking someone, talking vulgar, touching inappropriate body parts, expressing vulgar, messaging foul words, sharing images or videos containing abusive, seductive or adult content, etc.

Students must sign a register for entry, and exit from tuition class on the entry register with actual timing without fail.

Students are advised to leave the tuition class premises once their class is over, and they should not gather and create disturbance to the tuition class or the surrounding locality.

Students are responsible for the valuables they carry with them. The tuition class has no responsibility for theft or damage to their stuff during tuition class or in the tuition class premises. Students are advised not to bring any valuables to tuition class.

Any damage to tuition class property caused by the student shall be recovered by the respective parents, and they have to bear the cost of property repair or replacement.

Resources such as printed or digital study material must not be circulated or shared publicly. Tuition class reserves copyrights for all the study material they have produced for their tuition students, and not adhering to this will lead to legal actions against the students.

Students are encouraged to share honest feedback about tuition classes on any offline or online platform but sharing biased or intentionally negative feedback or review in public may attract defamation notice.

Photography or videography is strictly prohibited in the tuition class premises. However, group photo during an event organized by the tuition class is allowed with the permission of tuition class management.

Any photograph or video of tuition classes, such as photographs or videos capturing live teaching, student’s individual or group photos, will be the property of the tuition class and the tuition class has a right to use it for advertising or promotional activities without any permission from individuals.

Students will be held responsible for their safety when they are not in the tuition class premises. The tuition class will not accept any complaints related to any unpleasant events, incidents, or accidents.

Tuition class is NOT accountable and liable to compensate anything due to injury or loss of life to any students from any natural calamities such as earthquake, flood, storm, lightning, or manmade disasters like fire, riots, civil disorder, terrorist attacks, or war conditions.

However, tuition classes management will try to safeguard all students in the best way possible during such situations.

General rules for tuition students

There are some general rules that you will see in most tuition classes or coaching centers. These rules are basic guidelines to manage the tuition classes or home tuition in a better way.

Please note that there is difference between tuition and coaching and accordingly set your tuition rules.

Parents will be informed about the student’s progress at the end of every month. However, if any parent has some queries, they can visit the tuition class after office hours.

Students are requested to bring all the necessary stationery, notebooks, and textbooks to tuition.

Students have to complete the assignments given by the tuition classes, and no relaxation will be given in this regard.

All the students must appear for the exams or mock tests conducted by the tuition class from time to time.

Students are expected to attend all extra classes as asked by the tuition class. If any student does not attend the extra classes, there will be no repetition or make-up for the left-out syllabus.

Students have to come and leave the tuition class premises on time to avoid creating disturbances in the surrounding locality and must not gather at the premises for gossip.

Any harmful objects will not be allowed in the tuition class premises, such as knife keychains, spray bottles, sharp tools, etc.

Students are responsible for maintaining the decorum of the tuition class, and they are highly expected to practice good manners at tuition class premises.

Students must not involve themselves in any anti-social activity while carrying any identification of tuition classes. If any student is found doing this, they will be immediately terminated from a tuition class.

All the study material given by the tuition classes is for the students only, and it must not be copied or shared with students who are not a part of the tuition class.

Students can take benefit from the library facility of tuition classes free of cost but maintaining and keeping the books safe, neat, and clean is essential. If any misshape is found in this regard, the student has to pay the full amount for the new book.

Students are sometimes invited to the promotional activities of tuition classes, and if they are interested and permitted by parents, they can join the campaign and enjoy the event. All the expenses will be in the tuition class scope. However, there is no compulsion to join such campaigns.

Suppose any student has any issue related to teaching, teachers, or others. In that case, they can reach out to the tuition class management. The administration will ensure that the student gets proper attention and takes appropriate action accordingly.

Students must abide by all the rules and regulations of tuition classes at all times.
